A memorable Evening with Will Pucovski for MAACA

A privileged group of Taverners supporters and MCC First XI players shared an incredible evening of cricket insights from retired first class cricketer Will Pucovski, Melbourne All Abilities Cricket Association (MAACA) Premiership Captain, Denis Wilkinson (above left) and MAACA President Steve Lefebvre.  After the MAACA Presentations the audience enjoyed first course,  followed by Taverners Victoria Legend – Brad Hodge speaking on the current state of BBL cricket. After main course, Brad conducted an entertaining and in depth Q & A with Will Pucovski (above right) who is now the Head Coach at Melbourne CC.

Denis Wilkinson, interviewed by Taverners Saktti Breen gave an inspiring insight into what MAACA and Seddon CC mean to him. Denis has a rare growth disorder that severely impacts his life and he played in the Div.1 MAACA Grand Final with a shoulder injury (taking 5 wickets to win the Final).

MAACA President Steve Lefebvre then explained the history and impact of this unique and award winning Cricket program that has grown to 25 teams integrated into mainstream clubs across Melbourne and regional Victoria. The video of the MAACA All Abilities Cricket Wicket launch last year was played and Steve explained its features and that it the first of its kind in Australia.

Taverners Victoria Legend – Brad Hodge shared his in depth thoughts on the BBL with Cricket Victoria privatising the Melbourne Stars. He discussed the impact a $150 million price tag will have on Victorian cricket, The Renegades and that other States will need to follow suit to increase their revenues. The other side of the equation is BBL Marquee Player contracts and loyalty, with huge fees on the table. Will this create availability headaches for Test cricket? Will the BBL become the main event on the cricket calendar like the EPL?
