Her Excellency the Governor-General Accepts Patronage of Taverners Australia

Taverners Australia is proud to announce that Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, has accepted an invitation to become the organisation's Patron.

The appointment marks a significant milestone in Taverners Australia's ongoing commitment to creating opportunities for young Australians living with disability through sport, recreation and community participation.

In correspondence received from Government House, Her Excellency confirmed her acceptance of the patronage, expressing her support for the organisation's mission and the important work being undertaken to improve inclusion and access for children and young people across Australia.

National Chairman of Taverners Australia, John Jeffreys, welcomed the announcement, describing it as a tremendous honour for the organisation and its community.

"We are deeply honoured that Her Excellency has accepted our invitation to become Patron of Taverners Australia. This recognition reflects the importance of our mission and the impact our volunteers, supporters and partners have made over many years in helping young Australians living with disability participate in sport and community life."

Founded in Australia more than four decades ago, Taverners Australia supports programs and initiatives that break down barriers to participation, with a particular focus on inclusive cricket and recreational opportunities for children and young people living with disability.

The Governor-General's patronage provides important recognition of the organisation's work and will help further raise awareness of the value of inclusive sport in fostering confidence, connection, wellbeing and belonging.

"Sport has the power to bring people together, build confidence and create lasting opportunities," Mr Jeffreys said. "We look forward to working alongside Her Excellency and continuing to advocate for greater inclusion and participation across Australia."
